After talks with swimmer Milorad Cavic who won a golden and silver medal at the European Championship, Vuksanovic said that changes have been made in the existing decree so that all athletes who won medals at great competitions will be given a national recognition, popularly named as "sport pension."
The decree will include 450 more athletes and the pensions will start to be paid after a sportsman turns 35.
We are familiar with the experiences of other countries. For example, Romanian women gymnasts were given pensions when they were 16 so they did not want to compete any more, Vuksanovic explained.
The Minister voiced hope that Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica will deliver sport pensions to all those who meet the requirements on Serbian Statehood Day, Sretenje, February 15.
