In an opening ceremony, Vuksanovic said that this event would be a big day for every European country as university is not only a centre of knowledge but also the place where cultural elite is made.
He stressed that Novi Pazar University will educate young people from Novi Pazar, neighbouring municipalities and Montenegro, adding that this is good as there are no divisions.
The Minister recalled that last year was marked by adoption of the Law on higher education, 2006 is marked by the opening of Novi Pazar University and 2007 will introduce an agreement on financing state universities.
Rector of the University of Novi Pazar Cemal Dolicanin said that this university will provide quality education for young people with help of other state universities.
President of Novi Pazar municipality said that the opening of the University makes this region’s dream come true, which is thanks to cooperation with other universities and the Serbian government in particular.
The opening of Novi Pazar University was attended by rectors of all state universities in Serbia, representatives of the Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences (SANU), Islamic Community in Serbia Meshihat in Belgrade, the Serbian Orthodox Church and state institutions.
The government decided to open the university in Novi Pazar at the end of October this year. The University of Novi Pazar will include the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty for Management and Business Economy and the Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies.
