Miodrag Radunovic and Slobodan Lalovic
Radunovic told a press conference held in the Serbian government that 3,500 pensioners residing in Montenegro and 1,500 pensioners living in Serbia will be able to receive their pensions without any hindrance even before the agreement comes in force, due to the fact that a protocol on regulating payment of pensions to pensioners in Serbia and Montenegro was signed earlier.
Lalovic explained that the document signed is a standard agreement on international insurance which covers the areas of social and health insurance, health protection and maternity, insurance in cases of injury at work and professional diseases, as well as insurance in case of unemployment and child benefits.
According to Lalovic, it is especially important that the agreement has been widened to students, which means that Montenegrin students in Serbia will receive the same treatment as their fellow students from Serbia.
Radunovic said the oldest pensioners will receive pensions at their home address, and those who were unable so far to receive payments will be able to receive the collected amount.
Lalovic said that funds have been made available and payments can be expected soon. He expressed satisfaction with the fact that this important issue has been settled.
He said that an administrative agreement has been signed to implement the Agreement on Social Insurance, according to which the key elements of the agreement can be implemented even before it is ratified.
Lalovic recalled that Serbia signed similar agreements with most of the republics of the former Yugoslavia, including Croatia, Macedonia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
