Serbian Minister of Justice Zoran Stojkovic opened the 19th meeting of the Kopaonik School of Natural Law today in which 2,500 of most renowned lawyers from Serbia and other EU and non-EU countries will take place.
Stojkovic said that the Kopaonik School is the largest law school in the world since it gathers the most eminent experts and lawyers, and recalled that it has composed a number of legal proposals and an in-depth discussion on the Law of human rights.
He said that the school has so far published four volumes of written works from various legal branches, adding that this year's meeting is being held under the slogan "The Law and the Humane Future".
Members of a committee founded by the government will also participate in the meeting this year and their task will be to compose a draft law on civil code which Serbia once had back in 1844 which became invalid in 1946.
The Minister said he expects committee members to present the first draft in a year ensuring that the document includes European standards as well, since it would be another step towards the harmonisation of the Serbian judiciary with that of the EU.
Next year the school will observe its jubilee, namely the 20th meeting, thus confirming that the Kopaonik School of Natural Law defines Serbia's identity in international legal circles.
