Popovic said that this decision shows that after almost a decade in a political isolation, Albanian leaders again have faith in Serbian institutions.
He recalled that these are first parliamentary elections in which political parties of ethnic Albanians participate since 1998 and pointed out that Albanians can exercise their national rights through institutions of the Republic of Serbia and give their full contribution to a multiethnic society.
Albanian involvement in the election process proves that the political situation in the south of Serbia is calming down, Popovic said and pointed out that political stability is one of preconditions for development of economy and attracting foreign investments, and thus a better life of all citizens in the south of Serbia, both Albanians and Serbs.
According to him, this was done thanks to intensive work of the Coordinating Body for Municipalities Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja and is a great impetus for this body and all state bodies to keep on working on improving political conditions in this area.
Four political parties that represent nearly 75,000 ethnic Albanians in Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja will participate in the January 21 elections with a joint list.
