Ilic said that he expects that the Serbian-Bulgarian joint customs control will make transportation between the two countries 50% faster.
He said that over €5 million was invested in the Dimitrovgrad railway station from loans of the European Investment Bank (EIB).
The Minister said that he agreed with his Bulgarian counterpart that cargo road transport between the two countries be speeded up in order to avoid delays at the border point.
Ilic recalled that the agreement between Serbian and Bulgarian governments on joint border control and procedure in railway transport was signed last year by respective prime ministers and added that the document was ratified in both parliaments in the middle of the year.
At the same time, he announced works on building a Nis-Sofia highway next year adding that complete documentation for building Corridor 10 is finished so the tender is being prepared.
According to Ilic, the Serbian government made a decision to build this section with its own funds, most probably from the National Investment Plan.
Mutafchiev said that building that road is priority for the Bulgarian government.
Ilic announced that after reconstruction of the railroad from Nis to Dimitrovgrad, its electrification will start next spring and recalled that tunnels and 18 bridges were reconstructed on this railroad.
The signing of the protocol created conditions for full implementation of the agreement on joint border control and procedure in railway transport.
