Serbian Deputy Minister of Capital Investment Miodrag Jocic, who signed the declaration on behalf of Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic, said that the key result of the meeting is that all countries of the region clearly pledged for regional projects of the transport network.
Jocic explained that this would make it easier for their financing by European institutions and the IPA programme of support to candidates and potential candidates for EU membership.
He added that the Serbian strategy is to maintain the existing road network and build more sections of European corridors running through Serbia, particularly Corridor 10 and Belgrade-South Adriatic E-763.
According to him, these projects include Belgrade ring-road, the highway from Leskovac to Macedonia and Horgos-Belgrade-Pozega highway.
The declaration in Brussels was also signed by UNMIK representing Kosovo-Metohija, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia and Albania.
The meeting in Brussels was the second annual meeting of transport ministers. The first was held in Skopje, Macedonia, in 2005. The event was supported by the South East Europe Transport Observatory (SEETO), which is financed by the European Commission.
