During his visit to Kostolac A on occasion of the installation of a new electric filter Naumov explained that the current emission rate of 800 milligrams per cubic metre will be reduced to 40 milligrams per cubic metre.
He also announced that in 2007 Kostolac and Obrenovac power plants will get new electric filters each, thus considerably reducing the emission of hazardous particles.
Naumov recalled that in the past two and a half years, three electric filters were installed at the power plant Nikola Tesla A in Obrenovac and as a result, the particle emission has been reduced sevenfold and is now in line with EU standards.
The European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR) gave a donation of around €5 million for the new filter. The equipment was delivered by the Czech Republic's ZVVZ Company from Milevsko and the filter was installed by Gosa from Velika Plana.
The EAR will invest €450 million in the Serbian electric industry, whereas the total investment in Serbia's electric energy system in the next 10 years will amount to $1.2 billion.
Apart from Minister Naumov, present at the Kostolac A power plant were also Minister of Science and Environmental Protection Aleksandar Popovic, Head of the European Commission delegation to Serbia Josep Lloveras, General Director of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia Vladimir Djordjevic and Acting Head of the EAR's Operational Centre in Belgrade Bernard Buckley.
