The statement says that the invitation extended to Bozovic for attending this year’s conference in Budapest signifies recognition of and support for the results achieved by the Serbian Ministry of Interior, the Serbian government and the police internal control section (former inspectorate general) thus far in implementation of reforms in the police, the introduction of European standards, the lawful and professional behaviour of police and fight against corruption.
The work done so far in the meeting, which is being held this year under the title “Contact and Communication”, pointed to the importance of constant contact and communication between all departments, bodies and organs of the state, as well as representatives of civil society in the creation of anticorruption awareness through which it is necessary to form an effective anticorruption and anticrime coalition at state and social levels.
This meeting emphasizes the importance of international exchange of information and data, as well as all inclusive communication between all state departments and organs in the fight against corruption through the institutional establishment of forms and methods for this kind of communication.
Participants of the meeting from departments which deal with internal control in police reiterated the importance of joint fight against corruption at a national, but also at the European and global level.
The State Prosecutor of Budapest said that cooperation between these departments, bodies and organs with state prosecutors’ offices is very important, while a judge at the Supreme Court of Fiji, a special guest at the meeting, pointed to the importance of the independence of courts in this fight, and warned that democracy in society is visible through the efficiency of its institutions in every concrete case.
Bozovic will hold several separate meetings with representatives of departments of police monitoring from other European countries, as well as with Hungarian police internal control, during this meeting.
