Prime Minister in a caretaker capacity Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, met today with Serb students from the region who are studying at state universities in Serbia under the Serbia for Serbs from the Region programme.
At the meeting, which was also attended by Bishop Heruvim of Osijek-Polje and Baranja, Macut highlighted the importance of education both for the students themselves and for Serb communities in the region.
The Prime Minister noted that, through this programme, they have been given the opportunity to continue their education at universities in Serbia, with scholarships and accommodation in student dormitories provided.
The Prime Minister emphasised that this is not merely a matter of scholarships, faculties and dormitories, but a question of belonging, unity, support and assistance to young compatriots on their path to success.
Macut encouraged the young people to be hardworking, courageous and curious, and to cherish their roots while remaining open to the world.
No one can take knowledge away from you. It opens doors, gives you the freedom to choose your own path, and the strength to make your dreams come true, the Prime Minister told the young people.
According to him, Serbia will continue to stand by its young compatriots, support them, and rejoice in every one of their successes.
