Strengthening cooperation between Serbia, Ghana in areas of mutual interest

Belgrade/New York, 22 September 2026

Minister of Foreign Affairs in a caretaker capacity Marko Đurić met today in New York with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ghana Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The two officials agreed that Serbia and Ghana are linked by well-developed bilateral and multilateral cooperation and traditionally friendly relations.

The Serbian Foreign Minister invited Minister Ablakwa to pay a bilateral visit to Serbia, which would strengthen the partnership in areas of mutual interest.

He once again thanked Ghana for its support regarding the preservation of Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and reiterated that, concerning Kosovo and Metohija, one of our most important national and state issues, Serbia remains committed to upholding international law and the UN Charter.

The foreign ministers of Serbia and Ghana also exchanged views on possibilities for intensifying Serbia’s cooperation with the African Union and on Serbia’s participation in its activities and formats. While discussing Specialised Expo 2027, in which Ghana is also participating, the interlocutors examined concrete ways to ensure greater visibility and representation for African countries at this prestigious event.
