Minister of Foreign Affairs in the caretaker Government of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić attended the state funeral of King Harald V in Oslo today, after the monarch’s 35-year reign on the Norwegian throne.

Đurić pointed out that King Harald’s reign marked the development of relations between Serbia and Norway, noting that he will be remembered in Serbia for visiting Serbian sites of suffering together with the country’s representatives and paying tribute to the Serbian victims beneath the Norwegian and Serbian flags.
Recalling that a large number of members of the Serbian diaspora live and work in Norway, he observed that bilateral relations between the two countries are characterised by mutual respect and support.
The head of Serbian diplomacy emphasised that during today’s ceremony he conveyed the condolences of the people and leadership of Serbia to Norway’s highest authorities.
At the same time, Đurić announced that an audience with the new King Haakon VIII will soon be held in Oslo, expressing confidence that relations with the Kingdom of Norway will continue to develop in the period ahead.
