Strategic dialogue crown of bilateral relations between Serbia, US

Belgrade, 8 September 2026

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić emphasised today, during the talks with associates of American congressmen and senators, that Serbia strives to build the best possible relations with key countries in the world, and that the main goals of foreign policy remain strengthening stability and cooperation in the region, as well as accession to the European Union.

Đurić explained to the guests, who are visiting the region, that Serbia's geographical position, economic and security environment determine the Balkan region and Europe as the foundation of all the most important relations of our country.

He recalled that just over a month ago, the first round of the Strategic Dialogue between Serbia and the United States was held in Washington, which represents the crown of our relations and an essential platform for improving bilateral cooperation in various areas – from politics and security, through energy, trade and investment, to culture, science and people-to-people ties.

The head of Serbian diplomacy also pointed out that approximately one million Serbs live in the United States, who represent an important bridge for further strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking about the most important aspects of Serbia's domestic and foreign policy, the Minister presented the most important results in the areas of the economy, infrastructure and maintaining financial and energy stability, despite numerous geopolitical challenges and conflicts in the world, which indirectly affect our region.

According to him, in recent years Serbia has achieved significant results in the development of new technologies, with the United States being our country's most important partner in the field of services and the use of information and communication technologies.

At the end of their meeting with Minister Đurić, the guests from the United States had the opportunity to ask questions about Serbia's position on the most important regional and geopolitical topics.
