The Serbian Ministry of Health has said that the new Law on health protection introduces a new procedure for appointing directors of health centres through a public competition and added that the first director appointed through public contest is Dr Slobodan Tosovic, the new director of the Belgrade City Public Health Institute.
The director is appointed for four years, and his mandate can be repeated once in a row. If the director is not a doctor, he must have an assistant or deputy who is a medical. The new law introduces obligatory appointment of directors of health centres through public contest in all Serbian health centres, according to a statement.
