Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović stated in Saint Petersburg that Serbia and the Russian Federation remain reliable partners in the energy sector, expressing her belief that a model of cooperation will be found through dialogue that will be in the best interest of both parties under the given conditions.

Participating in a panel within the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Đedović Handanović emphasised that the supply of gas at competitive prices has contributed to the growth of the Serbian economy in the last decade and made it possible to avoid the rapid increase in energy prices and the decrease in competitiveness experienced in some other European countries.
She added that Serbia will continue to work on strengthening energy security, improving infrastructure ties with neighbours and preserving relations with traditional friends.
Đedović Handanović said that the Serbian government has also launched a new investment cycle and, under the Serbia 2035 plan, is planning investments in the energy sector worth €14.4 billion.
According to her, the largest part of the investments will be directed to new electricity generation capacities – approximately €6.5 billion for pumped-storage hydropower plants, gas power plants and new renewable energy capacities.
