Government continues to work solely in citizens’ interest

Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, stated today that the outcome of the vote of no confidence in the Government in the National Assembly is confirmation that the Government should continue to work at the same pace and with even greater responsibility towards the citizens.

Appearing in Daily News of the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (RTS), Prime Minister Macut assessed that the three-day parliamentary debate showed that democratic institutions are functioning, but he also pointed out that during the debate there were unacceptable tones and a manner of communication that did not contribute to a constructive dialogue.

According to him, the Government will continue to work solely in the interest of the citizens, and its work will be measured by results, not political polemics.

The Prime Minister stated that education and universities must remain above daily politics, as places of knowledge, freedom of opinion and dialogue, noting that lasting solutions can only be achieved through dialogue.

Referring to the work of the Government, Prime Minister Macut said that investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education and energy have continued, and that the Government will continue to work intensively throughout August on the implementation of initiated projects, new investments and direct work with citizens throughout Serbia.

Speaking about the current situation due to high temperatures, the Prime Minister thanked all competent services engaged in protecting citizens and appealed to citizens to behave responsibly and respect prevention measures in order to reduce the risk of fires.
