Coordinated state response to adverse weather conditions

At the session, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Ivica Dačić, Commander of the Team, Macut stressed that the situation requires a state response in order to protect the functioning of the system.
He emphasised that the authorities are monitoring the situation and that we must react accordingly.
According to him, the water supply system in a large part of the Republic is at risk and it is necessary to define measures and deadlines for action.
I am primarily referring to the safety of citizens, but also to the provision of technical and drinking water, said Macut, and asked all competent institutions for full coordination.
Dacic recalled the announcement of the National Hydrometeorological Institute of a heat wave, which, as he said, will also affect the water levels of rivers in Serbia.
Based on information from the Hydrometeorological Institute, it was found that maximum daily temperatures of 35 to 40 degrees Celsius are expected in the next ten days, with the continuation of the dry period, which will further increase the risk of fires breaking out and spreading, as well as negatively impacting the health of the population, water resources, agriculture, transport and critical infrastructure.
Members of the Team are familiar with the critical hydrological situation on the Danube River and the Danube-Tisa-Danube Hydrosystem, where historically low water levels have been recorded, which significantly complicates the functioning of the water management system and the supply of water for irrigation, fish ponds and other users.
The Emergency Response Team has adopted a series of measures and recommendations aimed at reducing the risks and consequences of extreme weather conditions.
