Dačić sends telegram of condolences over tragedy in mine in China

Belgrade, 23 May 2026

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić sent a telegram of condolences today to Minister of Public Security of the People's Republic of China Wang Xiaohong and to the families of those killed in the tragic accident in a mine in northern China, in which 82 miners died.

“It is with great sadness and sincere regret that I received the news of the tragic accident in a mine in the northern part of the People’s Republic of China, in which 82 miners lost their lives.

On behalf of all members of the Ministry of the Interior and on my own behalf, I extend my most sincere condolences to the families of the victims, to you, the ministry you lead, and to the brotherly Chinese people.

In difficult moments like these, the people of Serbia sincerely sympathise with their Chinese friends. Our two countries are connected by strong friendship, mutual respect, and sincere closeness, which is why the pain felt by the people of China today deeply affects all of us in Serbia.

Please convey to the families of the victims the words of support and sympathy of all members of the Interior Ministry, and wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured.

I am confident that the strength and unity of the Chinese people will help overcome this great tragedy.
