Starović opened the exhibition together with Head of the European Union Delegation to Serbia Andreas von Beckerath and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus to Serbia Ioulia Sykopetrites.
The Minister emphasised that the Applied Nostalgia project, which the Ministry of European Integration has been organising for 18 years, is an example of successful cultural cooperation between Serbia and the member states of the European Union and confirms that European cooperation is not only a political process, but also a way in which people, cultures and their common values meet.
He underlined that relations between Serbia and Cyprus are traditionally friendly and based on mutual trust, respect for international law and mutual support for the preservation of sovereignty and territorial integrity, and expressed gratitude to Cyprus for its continuous support for Serbia’s European path.
The authors of the exhibition are Serbian photographer Nemanja Jovanović and Cypriot photographer George Charalambous, who through their photographs present a visual dialogue between Belgrade and Nicosia.
The Applied Nostalgia: Belgrade – Nicosia exhibition, organised by the Ministry of European Integration of Serbia and the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Belgrade, will be open at the Europe House until 24 May and will also be open in Nicosia by the end of June.
