Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić stated today, at the marking of five centuries of existence and the official opening of the restored Altun-Alem Mosque in Novi Pazar, that this religious building should be a place of encounter, understanding and peace, both for believers and for all other people.

Dačić, who attended the ceremony on behalf of Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, assessed that five centuries of the existence of a religious building is testimony that we are all part of one heritage.
The Altun-Alem Mosque is proof that Serbia respects and nurtures its religious and cultural diversity, and that it understands the importance of each of its parts, he pointed out, noting that this religious building, whose restoration was largely financed from the budget of Serbia, should be a place from which peace, brotherhood and coexistence will be preached.
President of the Meshihat of the Islamic Community and Mufti of Sandžak Mevlud Dudić expressed satisfaction that the latest restoration of this mosque has bridged all our divisions, united us and become a shared value of all citizens of the Republic of Serbia.
