Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić stated today in Lyon, during a meeting with INTERPOL Secretary General Valdecy Urquiza, that cooperation with that organisation is a priority for the Serbian police.
As part of his official visit to INTERPOL headquarters, Dačić pointed out that the Serbian police plays a significant role in international police cooperation and is ready to contribute to strengthening regional security by opening an INTERPOL regional bureau in Belgrade.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that Serbia, as one of the founders of INTERPOL, is a reliable international partner and that the work of the Serbian police within this most important police organisation is recognised and highly valued, as evidenced by the fact that it is one of the top 10 partners in the world in international operational police cooperation.
The interlocutors assessed that for success in the fight against transnational crime, it is necessary for every region and every country to participate actively and in a coordinated manner in international cooperation and the work of INTERPOL, which will also ensure greater security for all citizens.
In this context, Dačić highlighted the importance of further improving cooperation in the fight against all forms of crime and expressed Serbia’s readiness to continue activities aimed at opening an INTERPOL regional bureau in Belgrade.
