Stojkovic pointed out that those who today call on citizens to boycott the referendum participated in the preparation of one of the Constitution's drafts which was presented to the Venetian Commission.
After receiving a positive opinion from relevant international institutions, the text of the new Constitution was unanimously adopted in Serbian parliament, the Minister of Justice recalled and underlined that is the first time that Serbia has adopted a Constitution in a multi-party system and in a democratic way.
Urstad stressed that OSCE does not support any calls to boycott the referendum because democracy is based precisely on the principle of participation in the democratic decision-making process, and not by boycott.
Congratulating Minister Stojkovic on the new Constitution, Urstad said that public opinion polls show that the referendum will be successful.
The two officials also talked about a series of activities which the Ministry of Justice has taken in the reform of judiciary and the adoption of a number of laws, as well as about the Mission's readiness to assist the realisation of all projects that have been launched.
The participants in the meeting confirmed once more that successful cooperation of the Ministry of Justice and the OSCE Mission will significantly contribute to the implementation of judiciary reform, establishment of the rule of law and legal safety in Serbia.
