Serbia cooperative partner in fight against organised crime

Belgrade/Athens, 24 April 2026

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić stated today, at a ministerial meeting within the framework of the Aqaba Process conference in Athens, that our country is a cooperative partner in the fight against organised crime in the world.

After participating in this gathering, which was jointly organised by the Hellenic Republic and the Kingdom of Jordan, Dačić said that more than 80 arrest warrants have been issued for our citizens around the world, that dozens of our citizens have been arrested around the world on our warrants, and that dozens of people have been arrested on the territory of Serbia on warrants from other countries.

A large number of extraditions have also been carried out in both directions, he said, adding that the Serbian police participate in various forms of international cooperation – through Interpol, Europol and other international police cooperation programs.

He emphasised that the conclusion of the meeting was that crime knows no borders and that various legal obstacles, omissions, inconsistencies in regulations, as well as the absence of certain legal solutions sometimes create great difficulties in the successful fight against organised crime.

Dačić said that representatives of about twenty countries and numerous ministers participated in the fourth session of the Aqaba Process, while Serbia was represented by Director of the Security Intelligence Agency Vladimir Orlić and Police Director Police General Dragan Vasiljević.
