Čaušić, recalling that Serbia has invested significantly in equipment and in strengthening human resource capacities in recent years, emphasised that the country is ready to provide support to other states, whether in response to fires, earthquakes or other natural disasters.
According to him, disasters are no longer isolated events; they are increasingly interconnected.
It is necessary to strengthen early warning systems, improve risk assessment methodologies and ensure that response mechanisms are coordinated and inclusive, Čaušić underlined.
He noted that Serbia has been highly active in recent years in international cooperation by providing support in emergency situations in the region and the EU, which has led to recognition of the work of the Emergency Situations Sector and the Helicopter Unit.
The meeting has brought together heads and deputy heads of emergency services from the initiative’s member states – Montenegro, Albania, Romania, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Türkiye, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia – as well as representatives of partner organisations.
