At the second joint meeting organised in connection with the annual reporting of the Police Association “European Police Officers of National Minorities”, Dačić said that cooperation between the Ministry of the Interior, this association, the OSCE Mission to Serbia and the National Councils of National Minorities represents an example of good practice in joint efforts to improve the position of national minorities in the police.
He pointed to numerous joint activities aimed at promoting and encouraging members of national minorities to enrol in the Centre for Basic Police Training.
The Deputy Prime Minister recalled that, when establishing employment relationships, the Ministry of the Interior pays special attention to the representation of members of national minorities in the police, with the aim of achieving full equality of all citizens.
Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia Carolina Hidea emphasised that cooperation between the OSCE Mission, the Ministry of the Interior and the association has significantly contributed to reaching potential candidates – members of national minorities who wish to become police officers.
Nenad Tairović, a representative of the association, pointed out that 2,700 colleagues working at the Ministry of the Interior are members of the association, representing 19 national minorities.
