Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić signed today in Belgrade with Republika Srpska Minister of the Interior Željko Budimir a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of legislation.
Dačić assessed that this is one of the most important documents further strengthening cooperation in the field of internal affairs, which is significant for the security of the citizens of Serbia and Republika Srpska.
Recalling the special relations with Republika Srpska, he said that the Serbian Ministry of the Interior provides support to the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior through various donations and forms of assistance in order to ensure the safety of citizens and enable the two police forces to effectively combat all forms of crime.
Dačić also stressed the importance of signing this Memorandum for the purpose of harmonising legal regulations in other areas of internal affairs that concern the improvement of citizens’ day-to-day lives, as well as the importance of cooperation in the field of emergency situations.
Budimir said that the signed document is another in a series strengthening ties with the aim of creating as safe an environment as possible for the citizens of Serbia and Republika Srpska, also pointing out that crime is transnational in character and knows no borders.
He highlighted the good operational cooperation between the two police forces, as well as the importance of various training programmes being implemented.
