Đedović Handanović stated that Serbia and Hungary have raised their cooperation and information exchange in the field of energy to the highest level.
She noted that the Russian owners of NIS have initiated the procedure for divesting the ownership stake in the company, and that during the course of today and tonight, it will become clear what the United States’ response will be regarding the continuation of refinery operations while negotiations are ongoing.
The US administration has already granted permission for negotiations on NIS to continue until 13 February, and they have begun, but they cannot be concluded within seven or eight days, which is why additional time was requested. Should the negotiations fail or should the US government not approve them, the state is prepared to take all relevant decisions in accordance with the requirements of the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Đedović Handanović said.
The Minister underlined that Hungarian companies have already helped this year to ensure that the Serbian market is adequately supplied with oil derivatives.
Szijjártó said that Hungary has always supported Serbia, and that Serbia has always been a reliable partner to Hungary, ensuring fair gas transit prices.
Now, when Serbia faces energy challenges, Hungary will invest all necessary resources to contribute to Serbia’s secure supply of oil derivatives, and our Serbian friends can count on that, he said.
According to him, energy company MOL is ready to significantly increase its deliveries of oil derivatives to Serbia.
