The Serbian Ministry of Health said that it called a competition in June to support projects for promoting health care of the Roma population as part of the “Decade of Roma Inclusion” project and based on the Action Plan for Roma Health Care adopted by the Serbian government.
The Ministry stated that 96 projects arrived from the whole of Serbia. The Ministry formed a commission for evaluation and selection of projects made up of ministry representatives, representatives of the Roma Office of the government’s Service for Human and Minority Rights, representatives of the government’s Poverty Reduction Office and representatives of international partners who had experience in working with Roma NGO sector.
The commission selected 31 projects which will be given financial support in the first phase. Other projects have not been rejected, but were given a deadline until August 28 to be modified, the Ministry said.
