Although Austria’s Mobilkom offered the same price, Mobi 63 went into hands of Norwegians as they initially offered a higher bid which was used as the starting price.
Telenor offered €1.37 billion while Mobilkom offered €805 million. Neither of the companies accepted to give €1.533 billion for Mobi 63.
Telenor is one of the largest mobile operators worldwide with ownership interests in 12 mobile operators across Europe and Asia, including Montenegrin mobile network Promonte. Telenor has around 90 million users worldwide.
Egyptian Orascom dropped out in the first round of the auction as it did not accept the offered starting price of €1.37 billion.
The event was open to public, and took place in the Belgrade Hyatt hotel, broadcast directly on state television RTS.
