Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Professor Dragan Glamočić, PhD, visited the high-tech company Xiamen Tianwei Technology Co., Ltd. during his official visit to China.
This company is regarded as a pioneer in the development of low-orbit satellites and in the application of space technologies in agriculture, natural resource management and the development of smart cities. Founded in 2014 in Xiamen, it has already carried out several successful satellite missions for monitoring soil, agricultural crops, meteorological conditions and natural disasters.
Its technologies enable the application of smart solutions in farming, livestock breeding, water management, as well as in the prevention of forest fires and the protection of coastal areas.
During the visit, Glamočić emphasised that the innovations developed by Tianwei Technology are an example of how modern science and technological progress can be put to use in agriculture and environmental protection. He stated that Serbia wishes in the coming period to strengthen cooperation with Chinese partners in the field of agricultural digitalisation and the practical use of satellite data by farmers.
Accordingly, he announced that a working group will soon be established, comprising representatives of institutes engaged in these fields, whose task will be to adopt and implement these new technologies.
The visit to Xiamen Tianwei Technology formed part of the official programme of the Serbian delegation’s visit to China, during which meetings with other institutions and companies in the fields of innovation, agriculture and environmental protection are also scheduled.
