Investing in environmental protection powerful driver of economic growth

Belgrade, 4 August 2025

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović today visited the construction site of a recycling yard with accompanying facilities in Čajetina, a project fully financed by the Ministry of Economy.

Mesarović emphasised that this is not only an environmental, but also an exceptionally important economic project for the municipality of Čajetina and the entire Zlatibor, as its implementation will offer strong support to both large systems and small and medium-sized enterprises operating in wood processing, construction, skilled trades and facility equipment.

A regulated waste disposal and selection system will provide companies with logistical support for responsible waste management, which will enable them to obtain green certificates and become more competitive on the domestic and foreign markets, Mesarović said.

She pointed out that this investment also has long-term benefits for the development of the circular economy and the creation of new jobs in the recycling, logistics and sustainable technologies sectors.
