Improving cooperation with Egypt in field of internal affairs

Belgrade/Cairo, 24 June 2025

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić discussed today with Minister of the Interior of Egypt Mahmoud Tawfik the possibilities for further improving bilateral cooperation in the field of internal affairs, especially in the field of combating all forms of crime, terrorism and illegal migration.

The ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the interior ministries on cooperation in the field of combating crime, which represents an additional incentive for establishing cooperation in the fight against serious forms of crime and terrorism.

At the beginning of his official visit to Egypt, Dačić pointed out the importance of cooperation between the two ministries within international organisations, such as INTERPOL and the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO).

As part of his visit to Egypt, Dačić also met with the country’s Minister of Labour Mohamed Gobran.

At the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to enhance the comprehensive relations between the two countries, which are bound by a traditional friendship.

The two ministers specifically discussed legislative provisions and preventive measures undertaken by the relevant authorities of both countries to prevent the misuse of work visas issued by the Republic of Serbia, as well as the employment of Egyptian nationals in Serbia.
