Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, visited Novi Pazar today, where he spoke with representatives of the City Administration, the State University, the Faculty of Islamic Studies and the Meshihat of the Islamic Community in Serbia.
Macut discussed with representatives of the City Administration the implementation of projects in this city and toured the Trnavica river area with them, where the works on the riverbed are underway.
The project for the financing of works on the riverbeds of the Trnavica and Jošanica rivers is worth €25 million, and this investment, which, along with the construction of a clinical and hospital centre, is considered one of the most valuable infrastructure projects, aims to permanently solve the decades-long problem of floods that have threatened the lives and property of citizens.
At the State University in Novi Pazar, the Prime Minister spoke with the Rector, Professor Zana Dolićanin PhD. On that occasion, he emphasised that it is of great importance to overcome obstacles and for everyone to return to their activities.
The Prime Minister stated that it is necessary to reduce tension, because the most important thing is to complete the academic year, assessing that the State University in Novi Pazar has a great advantage over other universities because it was the first to start holding classes.
According to him, other state universities are also on the right track, including the largest and oldest one - the University of Belgrade.
Macut also visited the Altun-Alem Mosque, one of the most important cultural and historical monuments in the region, for whose reconstruction the funds were provided by the Ministry of Tourism and Youth and the City of Novi Pazar.
He also visited the Faculty of Islamic Studies, where he discussed with the Minister without portfolio in charge of reconciliation, regional cooperation and social stability Usame Zukorlić the importance of education, improving infrastructure and strengthening support for young people in this part of Serbia.
In Novi Pazar, the Prime Minister also visited the Dositej Obradović National Library, as well as the Sopoćani Monastery.
