Minister of Justice Nenad Vujić signed the Convention on the Establishment of the International Organisation for Mediation (IOMed), initiated by the People’s Republic of China, in Hong Kong today.
During the Global Forum on International Mediation, in addition to the line ministers from the PR of China and Serbia, representatives of 30 other countries also signed the Convention establishing IOMed.
Vujić pointed out that Chinese philosophy often emphasises harmonious relations, the importance of diplomacy and mutual understanding in resolving disagreements, and therefore it is not surprising that China is the host of this event and the initiator of the establishment of the International Organisation for Mediation.
The Convention on the Establishment of the International Organisation for Mediation, aimed at peacefully resolving international disputes, represents a significant step towards establishing a quality and sustainable system that will contribute to more efficient dispute resolution at the international level, the Minister emphasised.
He added that Serbia is aware of the importance of mediation and continues to make sustained efforts towards its more effective application within the national legal system.
In this regard, he stated, the Ministry of Justice, as the relevant authority, will continue to invest further efforts in promoting, utilising and strengthening capacities in this field.
