Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijević spoke today with Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Akira Imamura about improving cooperation between the two countries in the field of utility infrastructure.
Sofronijević emphasised that Serbia and Japan have had good, friendly relations for 143 years, which are constantly reaffirmed.
The Minister pointed out that Japan is the second largest individual donor to Serbia, having helped our country with more than €500 million over the past 25 years.
She underlined that a large number of Japanese companies operating in Serbia have significantly contributed to the economic growth of our country, assessing that there is additional space for improving cooperation between the two countries in numerous areas, especially when it comes to the economy.
Imamura emphasised that Serbia and Japan are bound by sincere, friendly relations, recalling that in 2011, Serbia was the first country to send humanitarian aid to the Japanese people after the devastating earthquake.
The Ambassador expressed his belief that the existing cooperation between Serbia and Japan will be continued and intensified.
