The Ministry of Defence announced that the Distinguished Visitors Day for the NATO-Serbia multinational tactical exercise was held today at the Borovac training ground near Bujanovac.
The first joint military exercise between Serbia and NATO was attended by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić, Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Milan Mojsilović, NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General Kevin Hamilton, Commander of NATO Allied Joint Force Command Naples Admiral George Wikoff, ambassadors of participating countries, defence attachés, members of the collegiums of the Minister of Defence and the Chief of the General Staff, and commanders of Serbian Armed Forces units.
Approximately 600 members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the armed forces of Italy, Romania and Türkiye took part in the exercise, with military planners and observers from the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Romania, the United States, Serbia, Türkiye, France and Montenegro also in attendance.
Exercise Director and Deputy Commander of the 3rd Army Brigade Colonel Branislav Stevanović pointed out that the exercise concept had been adapted for units intended to participate in peacekeeping missions and that the implementation of tasks required a high level of training and readiness.
Hamilton said that the exercise had been an impressive demonstration of the joint work of the Serbian Armed Forces and their partners, praising all participants for their hard work, professionalism and commitment to achieving excellent results.
He stated that NATO intends to continue developing cooperation with Serbia, in full respect of its military neutrality, adding that this partnership will be based on trust, respect and commitment to regional security.
