Stable framework for cooperation with UAE on strengthening family established

Belgrade, 25 May 2026

Minister for Family Care and Demography Jelena Žarić Kovačević and Minister of Family of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sana Suhail signed today the Agreement on Cooperation between the two ministries in the field of preserving and strengthening the family.

The agreement represents an important step in further strengthening relations between Serbia and the UAE, based on the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership, mutual trust and shared commitment to improving the quality of life for citizens.

Žarić Kovačević emphasised that Serbia highly values the experiences and achievements of the UAE in developing modern policies aimed at strengthening the family, supporting parenthood and improving the quality of life for citizens.

According to her, the challenges we face today require integrated, cross-sectoral and innovative solutions, which is why the exchange of knowledge and experience with partners from the UAE is of utmost importance.

The agreement envisages cooperation in the areas of exchanging innovative approaches in population policy and demography, promoting pro-natalist measures, reconciling work and parenthood, supporting early childhood development, involving the community in caring for children and the elderly, strengthening family well-being and encouraging intergenerational cooperation and solidarity.
