Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met in Dayton today with Special Envoy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) to the Western Balkans Karen Pierce.
On that occasion, Đurić noted that bilateral relations between Serbia and the United Kingdom are good, and that there is significant room for their further development, which was also noted during the recent visit of UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs David Lammy to Belgrade.
The Serbian Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction with the British side's interest in expanding the format of bilateral consultations and the initiative to include more segments of cooperation.
A significant part of the conversation was devoted to the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, where, as Minister Đurić noted, systematic violations of the human rights of Serbs are taking place every day before the eyes of the international public, endangering the stability of the region.
Đurić informed his interlocutor in detail about the latest wave of unilateral actions by Priština in northern Kosovo and Metohija, emphasising that the security of Serbs in our southern province, as the most vulnerable national community in Europe, must be an absolute priority.
The two officials also exchanged views on the political and security situation in the Western Balkans, and the minister reiterated that Serbia is a pillar of stability and progress in the region, and that it consistently implements a positive political and economic agenda towards its neighbours.
