Speaking at the opening ceremony of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly session being held in Dayton, Ohio, USA, Đurić warned that any attempt at centralisation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially if implemented against the will of the entities, is not only legally questionable, but also potentially destabilising.
According to him, Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a mono-ethnic state, and the only sustainable way forward is one that respects its unique structure and the autonomy of its constituent peoples, while anything else risks nullifying the peace brought by Dayton.
He stressed that Serbia will always be a reliable and loyal partner in preserving peace, opposing both separatism and forced centralisation.
According to him, for the Republic of Serbia, the Dayton Agreement remains a living and binding legal framework - an agreement that guarantees the constitutional order and equality of the three constituent peoples and two entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He added that Serbia fully supports the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also advocates the preservation of the constitutional competences of Republika Srpska, as guaranteed by the Dayton Agreement.
Serbia remains steadfast on this path, he said, emphasising its commitment to a future in which the Balkans is not a zone of tension, but a space of opportunity, based on compromise, mutual respect and sincere commitment to common progress.
According to him, Serbia is today a rapidly developing country that strives to become a full member of the European Union, and on that path it is committed to regional cooperation.
