Serbia's industrial production in April 2004, not including Kosovo-Metohija, rose 2.9 percent against last year's average monthly output, or four percent year-on-year, the Serbian Statistics Bureau said in a statement. Industrial output in the first four months of the year went up by eight percent against the same period of 2003.
The processing industry grew 8.6 percent in April against the average monthly output in 2003. The production and distribution of electricity, gas and water fell 18.5 percent, while ore and stone extraction dropped 0.3 percent.
The production of capital goods jumped 22.7 percent compared with last year’s average monthly production, with the production of intermediate goods, not including energy, climbing 20.2 percent. The production of energy fell 11.3 percent, nondurable consumer goods three percent, and durable consumer goods 2.6 percent.
A total of 18 sectors, accounting for 45 percent of overall industrial production, reported a rise in April, while 11 sectors, which make up 55 percent of Serbia’s industrial output, posted a drop.
