Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijević met today with Greek Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas, who is on a working visit to Serbia.
Sofronijević and Dimas assessed that relations between Serbia and Greece, but also between the governments and citizens of the two countries are traditionally good and friendly.
The ministers discussed infrastructural connectivity between Serbia and Greece, with particular emphasis on a railway line that would connect Budapest, via Belgrade and Skopje, with the port of Piraeus, which would mean linking Central and Western Europe with the southeast of the continent, creating a significant opportunity to boost European exports through the Greek port.
The two officials also discussed establishing a single toll collection between Serbia and Greece, on which the two countries are working intensively, and the introduction of “green corridors” at border crossings to facilitate the smoother transport of goods.
Sofronijević thanked the Greek minister for the respect of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, as well as for the support which Greece provides to Serbia in the process of European integration.
Dimas underlined that Serbia is Greece’s true ally in the region, and that strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries remains a priority, according to a statement of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.
