Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić announced today that during a session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in Luxembourg, the Quint countries did not support including Priština’s membership on the agenda.
Speaking to reporters following the meeting, Đurić said that the most important news for the citizens of Serbia is that the self-proclaimed “Kosovo” and the provisional institutions of self-government in Priština are not and will not be admitted to the Council of Europe membership.
He said that in his speech before the Committee of Ministers, he stated that we must not forget that Serbia was admitted to the Council of Europe 22 years ago within its borders recognised by the UN.
According to him, it is unacceptable for the borders of a democratic or any other state to be redrawn arbitrarily, contrary to the Charter of the UN.
Commenting on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Đurić reiterated that Serbia is committed to the Dayton Agreement and internal democratic dialogue in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and does not accept distorted representations that are to the detriment of Republika Srpska.
The head of Serbian diplomacy said that today’s session also looked at the situation in Ukraine, that Serbia supported this country’s territorial integrity, but that it distanced itself from some decisions related to establishment of a tribunal, guided by its national interests.
