Popovic said that the strategy will aim at further economic strengthening of the south of Serbia, primarily through the process of company restructuring.
The session was attended by President of the Coordinating Body Rasim Ljajic and Vice-Presidents General Ninoslav Krstic, Nagip Arifi, Slobodan Draskovic and Ragmi Mustafa, the latter three being also municipal presidents of Bujanovac, Medvedja and Presevo respectively.
Ljajic announced that the Coordinating Body's presidency will in future meet at least once a month in Bujanovac and that government representatives will visit the region more frequently with the aim of preserving political peace and stability in the Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja municipalities.
He said that since the beginning of the year, 63 million dinars from state budget was transferred through the Coordinating Body to the Bujanovac municipality, 67 million to Presevo and 87 million to Medvedja, adding that the amount was conditioned by the regularity with which the local self-governments submitted their reports.
According to Ljajic, the Coordinating Body will not interfere in the formation of local authorities but it expects that multiethnic self-governments be set up in Bujanovac and Medvedja, following the same principle as four years ago – if the municipal president is a member of one ethnic group, his deputy will be of another.
