Jocic opens horse show “Vidovdan 2006”

Serbian Minister of Interior Dragan Jocic opened today the traditional international horse show “Vidovdan 2006” in which, along with representatives of domestic clubs, teams from Croatia, Slovakia, Romania and Macedonia are also participating.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event which is being held from June 23 to 25 at the grounds of the educational centre of the Ministry of Interior in Makis, Jocic wished success to the competitors and expressed gratitude to all those who helped organise this sporting event.
He pointed out the importance of the horse club “Policajac”, which is one of the organisers of the horse show, and according to Jocic, after six decades of work, deserves to be proclaimed one of the best clubs in the country not just because of the sports results but also due to the serious and major efforts invested in the development of horse sports.
The Minister recalled that “Policajac” has won numerous recognitions in domestic and international competitions, it was always open to the public, and has contributed a lot to the reputation of police and in bringing them closer to the public.
The “Vidovdan” horse show has been organised by the club “Policajac”, horse union of Belgrade, Secretariat of Belgrade City for sport and youth, the municipality of Cukarica and the Cukarica sports union. Teams will compete in hurdle riding and equestrian dressage, today and tomorrow.
Along with a majority of horse sports enthusiasts, Serbian parliamentary speaker Predrag Markovic also attended the ceremonious parade of competitors.
