Bubalo told a press conference, held following a session of the Serbian-German Business Council, that the Council has continued with the work of the Serbia-Montenegrin-German business council, which began work on October 29, 2003.
He explained that the work of the Council is organised in working groups which cover public utility companies, the energy sector, agriculture, transport, tourism, banking and finance.
Working groups have proposed a total of 50 projects thus far, of which 25 have been approved at the plenary session of the Council, some projects were realised in the previous period, while new projects will be funded with the help of the German government, said the Minister.
When telecommunication is in question, one of the biggest potential buyers of the company Mobi 63 and the license for the second mobile operator in Serbia is Deutsche telecom, he said, adding that cooperation is visible also in joint realisation of all projects on transport corridor 10 and 7.
Among the realised projects the Minister highlighted completion of works on the renovation of the thermoelectric power plant “Nikola Tesla B” and the repair of the dredging machine on the open pit mines of Kolubara.
He recalled the rehabilitation of Kolubara-Tamnava West lignite mine, and the renovation of the Bajina Basta hydroelectric power plant are both underway, for which the German bank KfW has provided a loan worth €30 million.
According to Bubalo, negotiations between “Jat Tehnike” and German air company Lufthansa on the opening of a joint aviation academy are underway.
The Stability Pact for Southeast Europe would back the idea of an academy which would be located in Belgrade and would be the centre for pilot training for all Balkan countries, Bubalo said.
State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology Joachim Würmeling said today that Serbia is Germany’s important business partner and noted that the German government is ready to get engaged more to contribute to the economic development of the whole region.
Würmeling stressed that continuation of Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) talks is of crucial importance and expressed hope that all obstacles will be removed.
Cooperation between Serbia and Germany as part of the Business Council is a clear sign of good relations between the two countries and successful cooperation in the fields where concrete results have already been made, the German State Secretary said.
