During the talks, Stojkovic pointed out the various problems that the judiciary in Serbia must deal with, and said that the current situation is by no means an easy one.
He said that efforts are being made to solve three key problems – inefficiency, bad quality and increased corruption. He added that the National Strategy for Judicial Reform has been drafted, and was recently adopted by the parliament, while intensive work is going on regarding the training of judges and prosecutors to procure qualified staff in order to implement the reforms properly.
The cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and Konrad Adenauer Foundation will be in the form of conferences, seminars and training for justices and prosecutors.
Regional director of the Legal state programme Stephanie Ross presented the regional programme of this foundation, whose main goal is to support the democratic building of the legal state in countries of the region.
According to her, the programme includes seminars, professional advancement, training, counseling and publications aimed at contributing to the development of an efficient legal system.
