The statement reads that State Secretary of Capital Investment Dragana Curcic, who is heading a Serbian delegation to a Geneva Regional Radiocommunication Conference for planning of the digital terrestrial broadcasting service, said at today's plenary session that Serbia this year celebrates its 140th anniversary of ITU membership. The final acts of the conference, scheduled to be signed on June 16, will be the first international agreement that Serbia will sign as an independent and internationally recognised state, she added.
Curcic reminded the participants of Serbia's contribution to the ITU during its long membership, adding that the country is ready to remain faithful to the ITU's essential principles, which are cooperation and understanding among member states.
The conference aims to balance the demands of countries from Europe, Africa, Near East and Iran so as to enable optimal functioning without jamming broadcasts of future terrestrial radio and TV stations which will broadcast their programmes using digital technology.
The Serbian delegation comprised members of the Serbian Telecommunications Agency Slavenko Rasajski, Petar Stefanovic, Natalija Varagic and Marija Raickovic.
