Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met today, as part of his visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov.
During the meeting, Đurić pointed out that Serbia and Azerbaijan are two traditionally friendly countries that, thanks to the strong and direct ties between Presidents Aleksandar Vučić and Ilham Aliyev, today have political relations at their historic maximum.
He stated that holding the first meeting of the Council for Strategic Partnership between the two countries by the end of this year would be another confirmation of the excellent relations between the two presidents and the two governments, but also a good way to continue bilateral cooperation at a high level.
When it comes to economic bilateral relations, the Minister expressed satisfaction with the fact that in the last five years alone, the volume of trade with Azerbaijan has increased almost 14 times, which speaks of the increasingly intense dynamics of mutual economic cooperation.
The head of Serbian diplomacy reiterated his gratitude for Azerbaijan's support for choosing Belgrade to host the Specialized World Exhibition Expo 2027, as well as for the principled respect for Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
In this context, he referred to the latest events in Kosovo and Metohija, and pointed out that the goal of Priština's policy is to carry out terror against the Serbian people and their ethnic cleansing from the territory of our southern province.
Đurić said that Serbia fully supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, expressing his belief that the two countries will continue to support each other in the international arena.
