Strengthening overall cooperation with Cambodia, Saudi Arabia, Namibia, Sudan

Belgrade, 2 September 2026

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met, on the sidelines of a commemorative meeting marking the 65th anniversary of the first conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade, with Special Envoy of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Sok Chenda Sophea.

Đurić said that Cambodia’s participation in the gathering reaffirmed its commitment to the core principles of the Non-Aligned Movement, which remain just as relevant today.

In the spirit of the anniversary, the Minister proposed strengthening political dialogue as a means of encouraging closer cooperation and reiterated his invitation to Cambodian officials to visit Serbia.

The head of Serbian diplomacy pointed out that the reopening of Cambodia’s Embassy in Belgrade had also contributed to strengthening ties between the two countries.

He expressed gratitude for Cambodia’s support for Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and reaffirmed Serbia’s commitment to the peaceful settlement of disputes, respect for international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

Speaking about economic cooperation, Đurić said that Serbia and Cambodia had achieved good results but that there was always room for improvement, highlighting in particular the potential for closer cooperation in agriculture, tourism and information and communication technologies.

On the sidelines of the commemorative meeting, Đurić also met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Waleed bin Abdulkarim El Khereiji.

At this meeting, he reiterated his gratitude for the excellent cooperation and support provided by Saudi Arabian institutions during the evacuation of Serbian nationals from Riyadh amid the recent developments in the Middle East.

The Minister stressed that Serbia was committed to deepening overall cooperation with Saudi Arabia, with particular emphasis on economic cooperation.

According to him, Serbia is interested in enhancing trade cooperation with Saudi Arabia, increasing exports of Serbian products and drawing on the knowledge and expertise of Saudi specialists in science and technology.

Today, Đurić also met with Minister in the Presidency of the Republic of Namibia Charles Mubita, who led his country’s delegation to the high-level commemorative meeting marking the 65th anniversary of the first conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade.

He emphasised that Serbia was proud of its traditional friendship with African countries and remained firmly committed to further strengthening and deepening overall cooperation with Namibia.

Đurić expressed confidence that intensifying political dialogue and exchanges of visits at the high and top levels would provide fresh momentum for the development of overall bilateral cooperation.

The head of Serbian diplomacy stressed that Serbia greatly appreciated Namibia’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country, thereby reaffirming its commitment to international law and the principles of the UN Charter.

Đurić also expressed satisfaction that he would have the opportunity to welcome the delegations of all three countries to Belgrade next year for Specialised Expo 2027.

The head of Serbian diplomacy also met with Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohi El-Din Salem to discuss bilateral relations and several issues of national importance to both sides.

He pointed out that there is room for cooperation between Serbia and Sudan, which should be utilised through more intensive political dialogue and concrete forms of cooperation.

Speaking about economic relations, Đurić highlighted the potential for increasing trade and expanding cooperation, particularly in the fields of agriculture and education.

The Minister invited Sudanese students to take advantage of scholarships awarded under the World in Serbia project and welcomed the country’s official confirmation of its participation in Specialised Expo 2027.
