Đurić emphasised that the presence of the Somali delegation, led by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, is a strong confirmation of the friendship between the two countries, but also of the lasting symbolic importance of Belgrade as a place of meeting, dialogue and the connecting of countries.
The Minister assessed that the opening of the Somali Embassy in Belgrade has given additional impetus to political dialogue and overall relations between the two countries.
The Serbian Foreign Minister especially thanked Somalia for its consistent respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia.
Speaking about economic relations, Đurić assessed that there is significant room for the politically good relations between Serbia and Somalia to be accompanied by stronger economic cooperation.
The Minister also pointed to the importance of cooperation in the fields of education, sport and knowledge exchange, expressing particular satisfaction with the great interest of young people from Somalia in studying in Serbia within the framework of the "World in Serbia" programme.
He expressed his belief that Somalia will take a notable part in the Specialised Expo 2027 in Belgrade, emphasising that this event will represent another opportunity for creating even closer ties between the two countries and the presentation of Somalia's potential.
